TRANSPORT AND ACCESS

From Marseille airport take the shuttle bus no. 40 to Aix-en-Provence Centre Gare routière (bus station). The shuttle leaves from Quai 8 of the airport bus station opposite the MP2 Terminal, which is a 5-minute walk from Terminal 1. A one-way ticket costs 8.60€.  It is cheaper to buy a return rather than two singles. Tickets can be purchased at the machine or on the bus. Allow around 40 minutes for the journey or more in rush hour.

The buses run every 30 minutes.

From the TGV train station, take the shuttle bus no. 40 to Aix-en-Provence Centre Gare routière (bus station). If you are arriving from Paris or Lyon you will need to cross the train tracks via the footbridge. The bus stop is below the ground floor of the station, Porte Sud. A one-way ticket costs approx 4.30€. A return ticket is cheaper than two singles. Allow around 25 minutes for the journey or more in rush hour. The buses run every 15 minutes.

Tickets may be bought directly on the bus but you may also buy them at the same time as your train ticket. However, we advise you not to trust the bus times indicated on your train ticket, particularly for your return journey, as these only allow 20 minutes for the journey, which is insufficient to arrive on time. You can board any shuttle bus irrespective of the time on your ticket.

Both shuttle buses will drop you at the bus station in Aix-en-Provence (terminus), which is a 5-minute walk from the cours Mirabeau. All the town centre hotels may easily be reached on foot.

Return journey

The airport and TGV shuttle buses leave from Quai 11 and 12 at the bus station. There is a bus every 30 minutes to the airport and every 15 minutes to the TGV train station.

Getting to the university campus from the town centre

From the town centre you can take the A bus directly to the bus stop outside the main entrance to the Humanities faculty (arrêt facultés or arrêt Schuman). You can catch it at bus stops near the Rotonde at the end of the Cours Mirabeau (arrêt Rotonde Bonaparte) and opposite the bus station. The A bus goes to the P+R Krypton park and ride car park and takes around 10 minutes to reach the university.

It is also possible to get to the university by taking the number 8 bus towards Val de l’Arc but you must get off at the Moulin de Testas bus stop on the other side of the campus.

More information about buses can be found on the Aix en Bus website.

Depending on where you are staying, it takes about 15 to 30 minutes to walk from the town centre to the bottom of the avenue Robert Schuman (n° 29), where the humanities faculty is located.

Parking

The park and ride car park P+R Krypton is within easy walking distance of the university. It is open 24 hours and a day’s parking costs €2.20. Your ticket also allows you to take a return journey on the number 7 bus for free. Allow 5 to 10 minutes to walk from the car park to the university via the footbridge which is on the far side of the bus station. You may also take the number 7 bus two stops to reach the main entrance to the campus (arrêt Schuman).
